The Florala Lady Wildcats picked up their first win of the season with a 43-10 win over Rocky Bayou Saturday in Alabama/Florida Shootout at Pleasant Home High School.

Florala jumped on Rocky Bayou early when the Lady Wildcats’ Taylor Mount picked up a steal and passed quickly to Kaiden LeMaire for a layup.

Morgan Jackson got the Lady Wildcats rolling with back-to-back 3-pointers for an 8-0 lead early in the first.

With the first period winding down, LeMaire connected with a jumper to put the Lady Wildcats on top 13-1. Jackson finished the first period with 7 points and LeMaire tacked on 6 points.

Jackson remained sizzling from the behind the arc and buried a 3-pointer to start off the second period.

LeMaire continued her strong start with another jumper in the paint to put Florala out front 18-1.

After a free throw from Rocky Bayou, back-to-back baskets from Jakiyah Griffin, and a free throw from LeMaire gave Florala a 28-2 lead at halftime.

With the lead well in hand, the Lady Wildcats didn’t take many shots, but did get another 3-pointer from Jackson. Angel Maxey and Mount each added two points in the period to give the Lady Wildcats a 35-9 lead heading into the final period.

Maxey got the scoring started in the fourth period for the Lady Wildcats when LeMaire dished her the ball down low for a layup.

Griffin then added a layup to put the Lady Wildcats up by 30.

Jackson and LeMaire led the way for the Lady Wildcats with 13 points each.

“The girls did an exceptional job against Rocky Bayou,” Florala head coach Troy Stewart said. “Our defense did a great job stopping their offense and helping on drives. It was the best game that we’ve played all year. We had a great teamwork and chemistry.”
