The victim was later identified as 67-year-old Jonathan Hugh Sellers.

Deputies along with the River Falls Police Department and the Sheriff’s Possee K9 search team assisted with the search.

“At approximately 1 p.m., the K9 led the searchers to the victim down in a ravine,” Anderson said. “The victim appeared to have fallen into the ravine causing his gun to discharge, striking him in the upper area of his body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Anderson said that Advanced EMS and members of the sheriff’s posse, sheriff’s deputies, members of the 22nd Judicial Drug Task Force and the Opp Fire Department assisted in the removal of the body.

A sheriff’s office investigator and an officer with the law enforcement section of the Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division ruled the incident an accident.

Sellers had a New York Life insurance agency.
