Norma Jean (Candy) Day

Norma Jean (Candy) Day went to be with her Savior Fri., April 8, 2016. She was 79 years old. There will be a memorial at the home of Carl and Debra Wilkinson, 25089 Indian Creek Rd, Op, on Sat., April 23, at 2 p.m.

She is survived by one son, Bill Kightlinger of Fairhope; three sisters, Vicki Edmunds of Texas, Carlene Grice of Mobile, and Carol Olney of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Keven Puckett of Jacksonville, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lucy Rathel and James Puckett; husband, John Day; daughter, Regina Faith Day; and sister, Brenda Wilkinson.

Norma was a resident of Andalusia for more than 30 years and recently moved to Opp. She is well known for her beautiful Pekinese puppies and her cypress trees.

She will be sadly missed by family, friends and community.

 

Ms. Jo Ann Johnson

Ms. Jo Ann Johnson, age 61 of Evergreen passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at the home of her son, Michael L. Johnson, of Monroeville, Ala., when Jesus fulfilled his promise and took her home to be with Him. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., on Sun., April 17, 2016, at Cope-Keahey Funeral Home of Evergreen, with the Rev. Ghani Dykes officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Primitive Baptist Church in Owassa, Ala., with Cope-Keahey Funeral Home of Evergreen directing.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., on Sat., April 16, 2016. Flowers will be accepted.

Mrs. Johnson was born on Feb. 26, 1955, in Escambia County, Fla., to the late George Morris, Jr. and Ida Mae Diamond Morris. She loved unconditionally, and in return, she was loved by all who knew her. She was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, and she leaves a legacy of love, service, compassion, and joy. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifetime member of Olive Branch Baptist Church. Jo Ann graduated from Evergreen High School in 1973. She loved the outdoors, gardening, and cooking for her family.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Charles (Dickey) Johnson and sisters, Diane Morris Cottles and Janice Johnson proceeded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memories, her children Michael and Julie Johnson, Monroeville, and Timothy and Stephanie Johnson of Excel; a fiancé, Gerald Johnson of Evergreen; brothers, Buggey and Gayle Weaver of Andalusia, and Joey and Robyn Johnson of Poach; sisters, Terri and Sam Nobles of Evergreen, and Angie Johnson of Irvington, Ala.; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice and Monroeville Church of the Nazarene for all they did for Jo Ann and her family.

 

JUANITA H. RIDDLE

Juanita H. Riddle, 98, of Montgomery passed away at Andalusia Regional Hospital on Thurs., April 14, 2016.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Sat., April 16, at Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery with the Rev. David Willis officiating.

Riddle is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Frank Moore of Andalusia; grandchildren, Ransom (Carlene) Moore, Charles (Gigi) Moore, Kathryn (Ray) Meredith and Paris Moore; and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials to be made to McGhee Road Baptist Chruch, 2877 McGhee Road, Montgomery, AL 36111.
