Janice Benton Boothe

Mrs. Janice Benton Boothe, 93, of Opp passed away Mon., Sept. 26, 2016, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wed., Sept. 28, 2016, from Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel with entombment following in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends at Wyatt Funeral Home from 6 until 8 Tuesday evening. Eugene Meadows will be officiating.

Mrs. Boothe is survived by her husband of 12 years, T. J. Boothe; her nephew, Raymond Benton and wife, Angela; and great-nephew, Braxton Benton. She was preceded in death by her parents, George N. Benton and Willie Mae Dillard Benton; and brother, E.C. “Pate” Benton.

 

Roy Elliott Hall

Mr. Roy Elliott Hall, was born Feb. 16, 1940, in Mt. Willing, Ala., and passed away on Sept. 25, 2016, at his home in Lockhart with his loving wife of 58 years by his side.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tues., Sept. 27, 2016, at the Keahey Funeral Home Chapel in Lockhart.

The Rev. James Pickron will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Keahey Funeral Home one hour prior to services.

Roy was a long-haul truck driver, driving from coast to coast until his accident forced him to stop driving trucks. He was a skilled mechanic and there wasn’t anything with a motor he couldn’t fix. After an accident caused him to lose his arm he continued to mechanic and opened and operated Roy Hall Trucking Company and Diesel Shop where he worked until his retirement. Even after his retirement, people from all over would go to him for advice on how to repair things or just get pointers. Roy’s greatest joy was being surrounded by his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He loved working on vehicles and continued to do so until poor health forced him to stop. Roy loved hosting family dinners and holidays where all his family would gather round and fellowship. He had many hobbies, he like to deer hunt, go deep sea fishing (he fished anywhere he could), but what he enjoyed most was sharing stories of “the good ole days” with his family and friends. His children often said when they did things they did them one way, the Roy Hall way because every other way was wrong.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Daniel Madison Hall and Lena Helms Hall; brothers, Charles Hall, John Hall, Doc Trippie Hall, Frank Hall and Bob Hall; sisters, Mamie Morris and Mary Morris.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Vera Voncille Windham Hall; his sister, Mattie Watson; two daughters, Connie (Doug) Elmore of Florala and Charlotte (Tony) Wyatt of Onyca; son, Roy Elliott (Shorty) Hall, Jr. and wife, Tammy, of Lockhart; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom had a special place in his heart.

Robert Ray “Bobby” Ivey
Mr. Robert Ray “Bobby” Ivey, age 78 of Red Level, passed away Fri., Sept. 23, 2016, in the Andalusia Manor after an extended illness. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Fri., Sept. 30, 2016, at Beda Baptist  Church. The eulogy will be given by his son, Wade Ivey.
Mr. Ivey was the son of the late Jesse Cleveland Ivey and the late Anna Jones Ivey. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. He was employed for 36 years with Union Camp in Chapman as a plywood plant operator.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Pinkerton Ivey of Red Level; two sons, Wade (Denise) Ivey of Wing and Ken (Courtney) Ivey of Pensacola; brothers, Farrell (Linda) Ivey of Prattville, Phillip (Mary) Ivey of Hamburg, Ark., and Buck Ivey of Spanish Fort; sisters, Sara Grice and Margie Carnley, both of Andalusia; and six grandchildren.
