Lady Eagles win in 1st round, 2nd game delayed until Saturday

Pleasant Home had to wait out a more than three-hour rain delay before the Lady Eagles knocked off Highland Home 13-3 in the opening round of the Class 1A South Regional Softball Tournament in Gulf Shores.

Hope Gunter drew a walk to get things going for the Lady Eagles in the bottom of the first inning.

After a ground ball for the first out, the Lady Eagles got back-to-back singles from Abby Walker and Amy Bulger to take a 1-0 lead.

Bulger then scored on an infield hit from Rae Rae Coleman.

Coleman made her way around to third after a couple of steals and then scored on a sacrifice from Bella Worley.

Leading off the bottom of the second inning, Gunter got things rolling with a single.

Sissy Martin then pushed Gunter around to third with a single.

Back-to-back singles from Bulger and Coleman then gave Pleasant Home a 6-0 lead.

In the top of the sixth inning, Martin drew a one-out walk and then moved to second on a single from Bulger.

The Lady Eagles then loaded the bases when Coleman singled to shortstop.

Worley followed with a single that scored Martin and Bulger for a 12-3 Pleasant Home lead.

Coleman then scored on a passed ball to give the Lady Eagles a 13-3 victory.

Rain postponed Pleasant Home’s second-round game against Millry, which is expected to be played Saturday morning.
