Florala High School soon will receive much needed building improvements, thanks to a $27,000 grant secured by House Speaker Seth Hammett and State Sen. Jimmy Holley. School officials say the renovations, including upgrading facilities for a variety of successful programs like fisheries and turf management, will provide a better learning environment for the students.

“Our students deserve the best facilities we can provide,” Hammett said. “This grant will help Florala High offer its students a better place to learn.”

“Speaker Hammett and I are glad to continue to support education,” Holley said. “Providing building improvements for Florala High School is a noteworthy cause which I’m happy to support.”

Florala High School principal Terry Holley is grateful that the renovations will soon take place.

“We’re very appreciative of Speaker Hammett and Sen. Holley,” he said. “Their continued support of our schools is vital to our success. Grants like this help local schools with projects that otherwise would not be addressed.”
