Andy All-Stars use long ball to knock off Decatur

The Andalusia 12U All-Stars used three home runs to pick up an 8-4 victory Friday night in the Dixie Ozone Alabama state tournament in Andalusia.

Decatur got a pair of hits in the top of the first to go up 1-0.

In the bottom of the first, Trent Ziglar drew a one-out walk and then stole second.

A few batters later, Garrett Blackston drove Ziglar in with a single to tie the game.

Andalusia then grabbed the lead when Dylan Jackson drove in Blackston with a double to right field.

After three walks loaded the bases for Decatur in the top of the second inning, Blackston punched out the next two batters to keep the score at 2-1.

The Andalusia All-Stars extended their lead in the bottom of the third inning when Ziglar ripped a pitch over the fence in left field to put Andalusia up 3-1.

Decatur got a leadoff single in the top of the fourth inning, and then the runner stole second.

After getting the next batter to pop out, Blackston wheeled around and picked off the runner napping at second base.

The next batter grounded back to Blackston who then fired to first for the out.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Aksh Patel got things started for Andalusia when he sent a pitch soaring over the scoreboard in dead center.

Conner Brooks followed with a single, stole second and then moved to third on a passed ball.

Aidan Vines then ripped a single that plated Brooks with ease.

Patel then came on in relief for Andalusia and proceeded to strike out the side in the top of the fifth.

In the bottom of the fifth, Blackston ripped a 2-run home run to put Andalusia up 8-1.

With the win, Andalusia will play today at 10 a.m.
