Various businesses around Covington County participated in the first annual Children’s Miracle Network basketball tournament at Johnson Park with  Cost Plus coming away with the championship.

The tournament was a 3-on-3 event that will be put on each year in September.

All of the proceeds and donations from the event will go to the Children’s Miracle Network.

The businesses that participated this year were Wal-Mart, Zaxby’s and Cost Plus.

“This will be done every year in September,” Roosevelt Weaver said. “All of the money raised will be donated to the Children’s Miracle Network. Next year, we already have commitments from about five more businesses to join. It’s fun, good exercise and to we are raising money for a good cause.”
