Ryan Clifton Stokes

Ryan Clifton Stokes, age 15, earned his angel wings on Friday, June 8, 2018, at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Ryan was born on December 4, 2002, in Andalusia to Roger and Kelly Stokes. A child with a heart of gold that possessed a love for God and his family like no other. Three months ago, Ryan made the decision to become an organ donor. Due to his adult decision at such a young age, he will forever change the lives of many. Ryan loved hunting, working on the race car, riding the four-wheeler/golf cart, being outdoors, spending time with friends and family, and the color camouflage. He was a member of the FFA at Pleasant Home School where he served as treasurer. He was also an active member of Cedar Grove Church of Christ.

Ryan is survived by his parents, Roger and Kelly Stokes; his sister, Andrea Stokes; a nephew, Tristan Lee; maternal grandparents, Roger and JoAnn Miller; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joe Mullen, and paternal grandparents, Bill and Mary Stokes.

Visitation will be at Foreman’s Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2018.

Funeral services will take place at Cedar Grove Church of Christ on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 2 p.m. His body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.

 

Dr. William Edward Palmer

Dr. William (Bill) Edward Palmer, 71, of Oneonta, Alabama, passed away on May 7, 2018. The family will host a memorial visitation on Saturday, June 16, from 10-11 a.m. in the fellowship hall of the First United Methodist Church of Andalusia.

Dr. Bill Palmer was a member of the AHS class of 1965, a graduate of the University of Alabama and the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. He was a dentist in Oneonta for 38 years.

Dr. Palmer is survived by his wife, Diane Mahaffey Palmer; his son, David Palmer, and daughter-in-law, Tina; his granddaughters Kaylee and Hanna Palmer; his brother, Tom Palmer; and his sister, Mary Evelyn Palmer Feibleman. He was preceded in death by his parents William  (Billy) L. and Jewell Palmer.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to: Doctor’s Without Borders, Habitat for Humanity or to a charity of your choice.
