The No. 6-ranked Pleasant Home Lady Eagles knocked off Red Level and Florala to claim to the Class 1A, Area 2 volleyball championship on Tuesday night in Pleasant Home.

In the opening match of the night, the Florala Lady Wildcats held off the Lady Tigers for a 26-24 victory.

Jenna Goolsby and Makayla Parker got several kills for the Lady Wildcats. Meredith Parker added an ace in the win.

FLORALA 25,

MCKENZIE 9

Florala came out strong in the second match of the night and pulled away for a 25-9 victory.

Goolsby had several kills and an ace in the win.

GAME THREE

FLORALA 25,

MCKENZIE 14

The Lady Wildcats secured a spot in the championship game with a 25-14 win in game three.

Hannah Goodwin had a pair of aces in the win.

GAME ONE

PLEASANT HOME 25, RED LEVEL 10

In the second matchup of the night, the Pleasant Home Lady Eagles came away with a 25-10 victory.

Sarah Guilford picked up eight kills in the win.

Amy Kate Bulger, River Baldwin, Daisy Cordle and Shelby Huckabaa each had aces in the win.

GAME TWO

PLEASANT HOME 25, RED LEVEL 8

The Lady Eagles continued their strong start with a 25-8 victory in the second game of the series.

Bulger picked up an ace in the set, Baldwin and Bella Worley had two aces each and Guilford finished with three aces.

GAME THREE

PLEASANT HOME 25, RED LEVEL 13

Pleasant Home punched their ticket to Montgomery and a spot in the area championship with a 25-13 win in game three.

Worley got a couple of aces to start the set and Baldwin added a couple of kills.

Guilford tacked on several kills to help get the Lady Eagles to the championship match.

The Lady Eagles started off strong and picked up a 25-8 victory in the first game of the championship series.

Several kills from Baldwin and an ace from Worley had the Lady Eagles off and running.

The Lady Eagles continued to play strong offense and defense as they came away with a 25-7 victory in game two.

PLEASANT HOME 25, FLORALA 5

Pleasant Home capped off the tournament with a 25-5 victory to clinch the area championship.

Baldwin had three aces in the win.

“I thought we were flat to begin with” Pleasant Home head coach Tony Wilson said. “Once we got rolling we were OK. Once we got going everything fell into place. I can’t say enough about these girls”

Pleasant Home and Florala both advance to the super regional tournament in Montgomery on Friday.
