Country music star Jeff Bates is making his way down to Opp to perform at Charley’s Place next week, and owner Shon Searcy thinks there will be standing room only.

“We are hoping to see a lot of new faces,” Searcy said. “We sold VIP tickets and are selling general admission tickets, but if you don’t order them now, I don’t know if there will be room for you the night of.”

Searcy said that all 18 VIP tickets have been sold and that there are only general admission tickets left.

“We have about a 300-person capacity,” Searcy said. “And we only have about 80 general admission seats, so we will hopefully see a lot of people standing watching.”

Searcy was put in touch with Bates by Donny Wilson from Today’s Yesterday Band.

“They will be playing alongside Jeff Friday night. It will be a pretty chill acoustic set,” Searcy said.

Searcy said that since opening the bar last year, they have gotten bigger and better.

“Business has really picked up a lot,” Searcy said. “We have been getting more reviews saying that we are the best bar around so things are really looking good for us. We are averaging about 200 people per weekend.”

Charley’s Place has added a pool tournament and karaoke on Thursdays.

“We are always looking to bring new things in,” Searcy said. “We are thinking about a shuttle service to bring people to and from the bar, we just have to figure out how we will do it.”

Searcy said that next Friday’s show will be for anyone that likes early 2000’s country music.

“Jeff was really popular in the early 2000’s,” Searcy said. “I expect a lot of people in their early 30’s like me to show up.”

Bates received top ten nominations in four categories for the 2018 Inspirational Country Music Awards, including Male Vocalist of the Year, Entertainer of the Year, Song of the Year and The Living Legend/Pioneer Award.

Some of Bates popular songs include, “Long, Slow Kisses,” “The Love Song,” and “I Wanna Make You Cry.”

Charley’s Place will open their doors at 7 p.m., Fri., Nov. 16, and Bates will take the stage at 9 p.m.

Tickets may be purchased for $25 at Charley’s Place which is open Thursdays from 6 p.m., until midnight, and Friday and Saturday from 8 p.m., until 2 a.m.
