Buck Creek to dedicate new church

“It has been one long year,” Buck Creek Baptist Church Pastor Tyler Ingram said as he laid sod at the church’s new location.

It was a little more than a year ago that a Buck Creek congregant donated 7 acres of land to the church, which had been landlocked in its location.

This summer, chapters of Carpenters for Christ spent time here helping church members build their new facility.

Last weekend, the church held its first service in the new location for their Christmas tree lighting, and this weekend, the sanctuary will be officially dedicated.

Ingram said that seeing the building come together from the beginning has been a blessing.

“Seeing the building come alive and seeing the people’s faces has been amazing,” Ingram said. “It has been a long year. I know it’s been fast, but at the same time it feels like three eternities.”

Despite all of the hard work, Ingram said that God worked harder than anyone.

“Just watching God move through this whole thing is amazing,” Ingram said. “When you didn’t think there was going to be a way, God made a way. When you didn’t think that there was going to be enough money, God always provided. That has been the best thing.”

The congregation had a little taste of the new building last Sunday, and Ingram said that it only increased their excitement.

“We had our first service last Sunday and you could tell that everybody was excited to be in the new building,” Ingram said. “This is something that the church has needed for a long time. They just needed some space and now we have that.”

This Sunday there will be a dedication service at the new location and Ingram hopes that all of the people who have volunteered will be in attendance.

“We know that several of the volunteers that have come from different states will be coming,” Ingram said. “They’ll be coming from Texas, Mobile and different places. We got a lot of friends and family coming as well. I’m just very excited and I am very proud about what God has done here. That’s the whole thing, we just want to have room and a place for the people of Covington County to worship the Lord.”

The only thing left at the new location until it is complete is paving the parking lot, putting stone on the front of the church, finishing the upstairs bathrooms and putting cabinets in the kitchen.

“We lack putting stone on the front, which should be up by tomorrow,” Ingram said. “We lack some stuff for the upstairs bathrooms that we are waiting on. It will probably be after the first of the year before we finish the parking lot. We plan to pave handicap parking in the front and the driveways and then we plan to put gravel everywhere else.”

The new Buck Creek Baptist Church location has 12 classrooms, seven bathrooms, one kitchen with a banquet area and the main sanctuary.

The dedication service will be Sun., Dec. 2, starting with a tour of the facilities and a light breakfast at 9 a.m., and worship at 10:30 a.m.

The new location for the church is 649 Jim Foshee Road, Red Level, Ala.
