Mrs. Ruth Goodson Holmes, 91, of Opp passed away Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021.

Funeral services for Mrs. Holmes was held Monday, Nov. 1, 2 p.m., at Harmony Baptist Church. Interment followed at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation began at 1 p.m. at the church and continued until time of service. Brother Greg Cotter and Brother Richard Holmes officiating.

Mrs. Holmes is survived by: her son, James Larry (Nancy) Holmes of Opp; three daughters, Patricia (James) Dawson of Auburn, Rhonda Holmes Cobb of Opp, and Lisa Holmes Portis of Pike Road, Alabama; one sister, Shirley Owens of Andalusia; one sister-in-law, Opal Rabren of Andalusia; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Holmes is preceded in death by her husband, James K. Holmes; father and mother, John William Goodson Jr. and Minnie Norsworthy Goodson; two brothers, Ralph Goodson and Roy Goodson; and one sister, Margaret Parker.

Family ask in lieu of flowers donation be made to Comfort Care Hospice or Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
