Have musically inclined children who love to perform? Or are your children simply looking for a fun way to spend their days next week?

If so, the First Baptist Church community music camp may be the solution.

Minister of music Dwight Crigger said campers will perform “Joseph from the Pit to the Palace,” a Christian musical he describes as “a stomp musical.”

“It’s lots of fun,” he said. “It has lots of rhythm, trash cans and even road signs.”

Crigger said the camp will feature crafts and recreation, but the main attraction will be preparing for the Friday night’s musical production.

The musical is for those who have completed the first grade through the sixth grade, he said.

“Anybody who falls into that category can come,” he said. “You don’t have to be a member of First Baptist Church.”

Crigger said he’s organized a camp with 150 kids before, so the “more the merrier.”

The camp will be held June 6 through 10, from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Cost is $50 and that includes supplies and a T-shirt, but campers need to bring a sack lunch.

Crigger said he’d like to have a count by Friday, so he can make sure there are enough supplies; however, those who come on Monday will not be turned away.

Children will perform the musical at 6 p.m. June 10.
