The Greenville Tigers closed out the first week of practice under new head coach Bryant Vincent by holding a scrimmage under the lights at Tiger Stadium Friday night.

The Tigers began practice Monday and put on pads for the first time Thursday.

During the first week of practice, Vincent said he was pleased with the play of his offensive line and the play of several other players who he said have worked hard all spring, summer and now the fall in order to turn things around at Greenville High.

&#8220I'm really proud of the way our offensive line has blocked this week and Kelcius Pate, Jamontay Pilson and Tom Powell have all stepped up for us,” Vincent said.

After dodging rain and extremely high temperatures this week, Vincent felt Friday's scrimmage would be good for his team.

The Tigers will host Luverne August 24 at 7 p.m. in a scrimmage and will begin the 2006 season with Georgiana Thursday, August 31.

The Tigers will also host &#8220Tiger Pride Day” August 19. There will be a golf tournament at Cambrian Ridge that morning at 8:30 a.m., and the scrimmages will begin at 7 p.m., at Tiger Stadium.
