Members of the community are invited to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church on Sun., Oct. 2, 2011, at 5 p.m. and bring their pets for a special blessing. The service will be conducted outside, weather permitting.

The church also will be collecting the following items for the Humane Society- dog/cat food, dog/cat toys, blankets, bowls, water hoses, and towels.

All animals must either be on a leash or in a crate or cage. If your pet is an introvert, and you are nervous about the setting, you may leave your pet at home and bring a photo for the blessing.

Saint Francis, who was born in 1181 and died in 1226, took the gospel literally by following all Jesus said and did, and is honored for his love for all of God’s creatures.

The service will be conducted by the Rev. Cindy Howard. For info, contact the church office at 222-2487.
