Dozier Freewill Baptist Church plans on starting phase one of the remodeling of its church this Saturday if weather permits.

Church officials and members plan to clear an area to make room for the new fellowship hall to be built.

The MaChis Lower Creek Indian Tribe will hold its monthly meeting from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday at the New Brockton Farm Center.

Preparations are being made for the Indian Festival in March, which will be held off Hwy. 231 North of Troy in the Lapine community.

The Good News Quartet is planned for February and the Gospel Valley Boys are planned for March.

Refreshments will be served afterwards.

The church hasn't hired a new pastor yet, so Ina Ruth Wallace has been preaching Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. Michael Barnes has been preaching Sunday nights.

The church membership would like to extend an invitation to everyone to come be a part of the church family.

Dozier Freewill Baptist Church members are selling tickets on quarts of homemade chili. Ticket sales end Feb. 5 and the chili can be picked up Feb. 12 at the church after 1 p.m.

The cost of a ticket is $5 and the money goes to the building fund.

Word of Faith Church would like everyone to know that if you don't have a way to get to church it will be glad to pick you up.

The church van leaves Brantley at 9:15 a.m. each Sunday and goes to Dozier to start picking up. Then the van goes down Hwy. 106 and then picks up in Brantley arriving back at the church at about 10:50 a.m. in time for the 11 a.m. service. For the evening service the van leaves the church about 4:30 p.m. and arrives back at the church at about 5:40 p.m. in time for the 6 p.m. service.

Jason and April (Bees) Pearce of Troy are pleased to announce the birth of their baby girl, Ashton Lorraine Pearce, who was born at 7:22 a.m. on Nov. 20, 2004. She weighed 9 pounds, 1 1/4 ounces and was 20 inches long. Her sister Emilee Grace Pearce also welcomed her.

Ashton's proud grandparents include Bro. Rockey and Debbie (Williamson) Pearce of Elba, LaVon and Mary Bees of Rutledge and Mae Rabon of Brewton. Great grandparents are Willard and Lonie Bees of Rutledge, Effie Williamson of Brantley, Hazel Pearce of Palmeto, Ga, Wilber Rabon of Brewton and Ester Colman of Castleberry.

Alan Stevens a 2004 graduate of Brantley High recently left for basic training.

He is the only son of Greg and Renee (Veit) Stevens of Brantley and as any family they feel lost without him being around. Alan's sister Tiffany is a seventh grader at Brantley.

Please pray for Ethel Green, who was hospitalized in Luverne over the weekend. She returned home Monday.

Mrs. Ray Tompkins fell at home last week and broke her hip. Thank God she is healing.
