A rescue mission, that included the assistance of a state helicopter, assembled Thursday at approximately 7:30 p.m. on an athletics field behind Pleasant Home School for a Florida man who was apparently injured while hunting in the Conecuh National Forest late Thursday afternoon.

According to several witnesses, Otis Wilson, Jr., of Pensacola, Fla., fell from a tree where he was reportedly hunting from a tree stand.

"Apparently he's not doing well," Covington Sheriff Anthony Clark said while Faith EMS rushed the patient to the field. "I didn't see the man."

Clark also said he believed Wilson was being transported to a Pensacola-area hospital.

Wilson had been hunting for approximately two to three hours on Forrest Road 330 in the Conecuh National Forest, Clark added.

The Sheriff's Department, along with assistance from Faith EMS in Andalusia, the Dixie Volunteer Fire Department, and a state police helicopter responded to the scene.
