A total of five drug-related arrests were made in Covington County during the weekend, including a man wanted by Hoover and Opp Police Departments.

Christopher Bledsoe, 27, of Opp was arrested at a motel in Opp by an agent with the 22nd Judicial Drug Task Force for allegedly possessing crack cocaine.

According to the officer, the drug and drug paraphernalia were in plain view through the motel window.

"I located (a small amount of) crack and a smoking device in the room," he said.

The bond amount for the offenses were $10,000 for possession of the controlled substance and $3,000 for possession of the paraphernalia, but the officer added Bledsoe will face even more fines and possible jail time.

"He had outstanding warrants from officials in Hoover and Opp," said the officer.

Bledsoe is currently being held at the Covington County Jail.

The River Falls Police Department had a busy weekend with the arrest of a father and son in possession of marijuana and a separate arrest also involving marijuana.

According to RFPD Chief Jeff Holland, Andalusia natives Edward L., 58, and Everay A. Garner, 19, were stopped for a routine traffic violation. Both were found to have possession of a small amount of marijuana, added Holland.

Because of previous convictions, the father, Edward L. Garner received a more severe fine than the son, a first-time offender. The father's bond was set at $13,000 for both offenses, and bond was set at $1,500 for the son.

Kenneth Ray Edgar, of Homestead, Texas was also arrested by a RFPD officer, said Holland.

Holland said Edgar was stopped on Hwy. 55 for a traffic violation, and upon search of the vehicle, a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia were found. Bond was set at $1,500 for both offenses.

Two other marijuana arrests were made, one by the Covington County Sheriff's Department and the other by the Andalusia Police Department, but the arresting officials with each department were unavailable for comment as of press time.

James G. Howard, 46, was arrested by the APD for DUI and possession of marijuana; Shannon Grant, 44, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana by the CCSD.
