Straughn’s varsity girls Lady Tigers’ basketball team remains undefeated after defeating the Georgiana Lady Panthers 45-20 on Tuesday night at SHS.

Brittany Driver led the Lady Tigers with 15 points; Katelyn Kinsaul and Jacie Williamson had 13 points each.

SHS improves to 8-0 this season, and will play host to Kinston on Monday night.

In varsity boys action, the Tigers played tight against GHS in the first half to take a 20-20 tie at half time, but the Panthers bounced back to win 49-37.

A. Rich, who led the Panthers with 20 points, hit a 3-pointer as time expired in the third period to help GHS take a 32-29 lead going into the fourth period.

Rich went on to score nine of his 20 points in the fourth period alone.

“We probably played our best game of the season,” SHS assistant coach Marc Tracy said. “We’re proud of them. They played hard.”

JD Driver led the Tigers with 13 points.

Straughn will play host to its Christmas Shoot Out Tournament this week. The Tigers will face Kinston tomorrow night at 7:30 to open their annual tournament.
