The Florala High School junior varsity football team travelled to Pleasant Home and defeated the Eagles by a final score of 12-0 on Monday.

The game was a defensive struggle for most of the first half with the Wildcats scoring with 2:22 left to play in the second quarter.

Florala quarterback DeAndre Lewis completed a pass to Rodero Williams for a 21-yard touchdown play. The Eagles held the Wildcats on the two-point try, but Florala was on top 6-0.

Florala got the ball back with 28 seconds left to play in the period and threatened to score again with help from Pleasant Home penalties.

A 15-yard personal foul penalty and a 15-yard facemask penalty helped the Wildcats march the ball down to the Eagles' 13-yard line with 10.8 seconds left in the half.

The Eagles halted the drive when Jarred Powell intercepted a pass on the final play of the first half.

The Wildcats added to the lead on the first play of the second half.

O.J. Chambers took a handoff on the first play of the second half and went right up the middle. He cut to his left and outraced two Pleasant Home defenders to score on a 65-yard run. The two-point attempt once again failed, but the Wildcats held a 12-0 lead.

Another turnover set the Wildcats up in good field position when Bobby Fleming recovered a Pleasant Home fumble at the 18-yard line.

Pleasant Home's defense kept the Wildcats from scoring. The big play for the Eagles was a stop for negative yardage on a swing pass.

Floral had one more drive advance into the red zone, but a fumble recovered by the Eagles' Cody Hill stopped the drive.

The Wildcats took back possession of the ball five plays later when O.J. Chambers intercepted a pass with 13 seconds left in regulation.

The Wildcats' offense came out and went to a knee to run the final seconds off the clock for a 12-0 win.

Pleasant Home plays again next Monday at Red Level with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m.
