Andalusia All-Stars get mixed results

Three all-star softball teams from Andalusia began play in sub-district tournaments Friday.

The 13- to 15-year-old Andalusia All-Stars are the host team for the sub-district tournament being played at the Andalusia Sports Complex.

Andalusia squared off against Enterprise with the Enterprise All-Stars occupying the home team dugout.

Enterprise went on top 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning.

Andalusia answered with two runs in the top of the second when Lauren Carroll and Miriam Fagerstrom scored.

In the bottom of the second inning, Enterprise added three more runs for a 6-2 lead.

The score remained 6-2 until the top of the fourth inning when Beth Benson rounded the bases for Andalusia to trim Enterprise's lead to 6-3.

The Enterprise All-Stars scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth for a 9-3 lead.

Andalusia sent Hannah Bush, Jessica Armstrong and Jamila Couch in for runs in the top of the fifth inning to get back within three of Enterprise by a score of 9-6.

Andalusia, however, did not get any closer as Enterprise added seven runs in the next three innings for a 16-6 win via the 10-run rule.

The Andalusia 13- to 15-year-old All-Stars play again at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the Andalusia Sports Complex.

Opp fell to Greenville in tournament action by a final score of 15-3.

Elba beat Luverne by a final score of 15-5.

Two games are slated for 6:30 p.m. today with Opp playing Luverne and Greenville plays Elba.

The 9- and 10-year-old Andalusia All-Star team started its sub-district tournament with a win.

The Andalusia squad topped Greenville by a final score of 8-5 in Opp. The Andalusia team returns to action today. The Andalusia All-Stars play Enterprise at 4 p.m. in Opp.
