County gives financial report

A report by Covington County Revenue Commissioner Janice Hart was the highlight of a very brief regular meeting of the Covington County Commission Monday morning.

Hart said her department was in the process of closing one fiscal year and beginning another and requested the commission proceed with approving its share of financial appropriation regarding errors, insolvents and litigations.

She said the county's share of errors totaled $74,690.91, while insolvents totaled $14,408.52 and the county's part in the litigations totaled $55,542.48.

As far as overall money collected for the revenue commission's general fund and dispersed, Hart reported a collection total of $1,179,565.05. For county road and bridge projects $577,982.32 was paid out.

Hart said the commission paid $282,156.56 and that fees totaled $33,594.42.

A motion to approve the county's share of errors, insolvents and litigations was approved.

Also during the meeting, Commissioner Glen Powell noted that the annual Masonic Celebration in Florala will be held beginning on June 28.

In the only other action discussed at Monday's meeting, the commission approved the minutes from the May 28 meeting.
