5 things you need to know

1.  Mt. Gilead Baptist Church’s second annual Mission Madness Color Fun 5K run, walk, jalk and kids run, will take place at 8 a.m., at the Andalusia Farmer’s Market. “Men on a Mission” will coincide to help raise money for variety charitable organizations. Tickets to the event will be available this morning, and the winning tickets gets the opportunity to pour syrup on his or her choice of the men on the miss. A worship service will follow.

2. Andalusia Regional Hospital’s Women’s Expo will be held at the Kiwanis Community Center, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Admission is free. Some 32 vendors will cater to women, and those present may win door prizes.

3. Peer Helpers from local schools will hold a town hall meeting on Monday at 5:30 p.m., at Andalusia City Hall. Peer Helpers from each of the six high schools and District Attorney Walt Merrell will speak. Some of the information shared will be about underage drinking as well as marijuana issues in the country.

4. Taste of Covington County, the Covington County Red Cross’s annual fundraiser, will be Monday night, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., at the Kiwanis Community Center. Twenty-one vendors will serve up everything from Italian favorites such as pizza, lasagna and calzones, to Chinese fried rice, lo mein, sweet and sour chicken.  Cost is $15.

5. Sen. Jimmy Holley and Rep. Mike Jones will hold a town hall meeting at 6 p.m., Tuesday, at the MacArthur Campus of LBWCC.
