Twenty qualified applicants have applied for the Andalusia Chamber of Commerce executive director position.

Chamber of Commerce officials have narrowed the list down to 10, and interviews will be conducted next week.

The position became vacant last month when current executive director Chrissie Schubert Duffy announced she would step down to spend more time with her children.

Chamber officials hope to make a decision in the coming weeks as to who will be the organization’s next leader.

Duffy will stay on to help the new director transition.

“Being the chamber director is a big role, and an important one to our community,” Chamber Board President Stallion Sasser said. “We want to make sure we get the absolute best candidate for the position. I think we have a good list of candidates that are capable of pushing us forward.”
