Driving down the west bypass in Andalusia, commuters might have noticed an 11-foot tall monster truck in Massey Automotive’s parking lot.

The Raminator and Hall Brothers Racing team are in town today and will provide free rides on the back of the eight-passenger truck.

The truck is a Dodge Ram 1500 with a 528 cubic inch Hemi engine. The wheels are more than 5-feet tall and 3-feet wide with 25-inch rims.

Seth Jeffers drives the beast and said the best thing is to not go more than 20 miles per hour, adding that the gas mileage isn’t good.

“It’s more like a foot to the gallon,” Jeffers said.

Jeffers said the truck costs between $70,000-$80,000, but competition trucks can cost $400,000.

“On the older trucks, you could just put the tires on,” Jeffers said. “You now have to custom build a custom tube chassis.”

Hall Brothers Racing is sponsored by Ram Trucks and is based out of Champaign, Ill. The team travels every weekend displaying their trucks to the public.

Additionally, monster truck lovers will have a chance to win $45,000 to go toward the purchase of a car. Entrants must be age 16 and up.

The Raminator will be in the Massey Automotive parking lot today from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
