Last Friday night, the Pleasant Home Eagles (1-0) came home with a win, beating Samson on the road, 21-20.

Despite the close win last Friday, head coach Robert Bradford said overall the team was “sloppy.”

“We were very sloppy,” Bradford said. “We’ve still got a lot of work to do. But, the one thing I am proud of is whenever your team pulls out a win when you weren’t supposed to.”

Bradford said the positives of the game came when the team pulled together and put forth a good effort on the field.

“I think it was a good team effort and the kids worked hard and together,” he said. “The one thing I was impressed about when it came down to winning or losing, they sucked it up and ended up pulling the game out.

“We also got to play a bunch of kids Friday night,” he said. “Eleven kids played on offense and 11 on defense. That really helped us out.”

The one thing that Bradford said the team did not do last Friday night was “playing hard and playing up to our potential.”

On this Friday’s game against Ariton, Bradford said the team will still be working on getting better.

“(Ariton) is really good,” Bradford said. “They have two really good running backs and those kids play on defense as well. Right now, we’re still trying to work on us and getting better at what we do. Whatever happens, happens. As long as we get better each week I’ll be happy.”

Leading rushers for the Eagles were T.J. Langley who carried for a total of 131 yards and had two touchdowns and Frank Senn who carried for a total of 47 yards.

Ethan King had a 38-yard interception for a touchdown.

The Eagles had 257 total yards on offense and Samson had 214. The leading tacklers were Dominek Sims and Ethan Soles with eight each.
