The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs shut out the Thomasville Lady Tigers Monday night in three games, winning 25-18, 25-21, 25-17.

The first game went in Andalusia’s favor the entire game with the ladies working as a team to nail points.

In the second game, the Lady Bulldogs were down by three points and came back to tie it up with the Lady Tigers.

After the tie, the Lady Bulldogs took a three-point lead, which gave them the momentum to win the match in three games.

Head coach Angie Grimes said the team and their use of fundamentals looked better.

“They looked better and they played more as a team,” Grimes said. “Transition and hitting looked better. I think the tournament in Trinity this weekend helped us. We ended up not winning any games because we were playing some tough teams. It helped us a lot in moving our feet and getting centered on balls we’re letting get hit.”

Grimes said in the second game she changed one aspect the team was not getting right.

“We just changed where we kept setting to the outside,” she said. “I just called a different play to throw them off. I noticed that we kept trying to hit outside, outside, outside and that wasn’t working so we went and let somebody who does hit outside. It kind of throws their timing off on setting the block and that allowed us to regroup and run our plays like we need to.”

The Lady Bulldogs will host Kinston today and play starts at 4 p.m. with junior high.
