The Opp Bobcats (3-2, 3-0 in Class 4A, Region 2) will host the Ashford Yellow Jackets (2-2, 1-2) Friday night.

Head coach Jack Whigham said Ashford’s running game needs to be stopped in order to be successful.

“We need to handle their running game because they get outstanding field position,” Whigham said. “They have tremendous speed and have always been a tough physical football team. They’re backed up against the wall because they’ve lost two region games so far. Right now, I’m just concerned about the physical aspect of the game.”

On the second half of the season, Whigham said the team will continue to improve each week of play.

“We just need to try and continue to do well and get better each week,” he said. “We’re hopeful we can continue to improve each week. The better teams of the region we’ll play in the second half of the season.”

Kickoff in Opp is at 7 p.m.
