The Red Level Lady Tigers will enter this season next week in the hopes of having a winning year.
Head coach Delores Douglas said the outcome of the season is questionable.
“I’m not sure how it’s going to turn out,” Douglas said. “We’ve lost some players and we’ve got a bunch of young girls coming up and I’m hoping it’ll turn out well. I think if they really work hard and put a lot into it, they’ll do well.”
The Lady Tigers team consists of one senior, two juniors, two sophomores and four freshmen, according to Douglas.
“My ninth grader has good insight,” Douglas said. “Jiaira Coleman has good hands and is a go-to player. With the leadership of Starla Jones and Kanesha Calloway, they’ll do alright.
“We’ve got to do the routine plays,” she said. “Not turning the ball over and making careless mistakes. We just have got to be fundamentally sound.”
Red Level has changed areas going into the season and Douglas said her toughest opponent will be against Mobile Christian.
“I never look past any opponent,” she said. “Of course, you’ll have some (teams) standing out more than others and I’ve been trying to teach my kids not to look past any of them.”
As far as depth, Douglas said the team could struggle on the inside.
“Guard wise, I’m good, but I’m just not deep as far as my inside game,” she said.
