Andalusia holds annual fall sports banquet

The Andalusia Bulldog Bistro at Andalusia High School was packed with family and friends Monday night as coaches, board members and sponsors honored the AHS football and volleyball teams in its annual fall sports banquet.

The first awards given for the evening were to the volleyball teams. The junior varsity team was recognized as well as the varsity team.

Special awards were given based on the offensive-defensive player awards, academic award, most improved player award, most valuable player and permanent team captain.

Offensive player — Amber Anderson

Defensive player — Jessica Centner

Academic award — D’Amber Chambers

Most improved player — Marqueasia Tyson

Most valuable player — D’Amber Chambers

Permanent team captain — D’Amber Chambers

After special awards were given for the volleyball teams, cheerleading sponsor Charlotte Spurlin recognized the varsity cheer squad for their hard work and dedication during the fall football season.

The banquet then transitioned to the football teams.

Head coach Brian Seymore recognized lettermen from both the junior varsity and varsity teams.

Special awards were also given based on most improved defensive and offensive player, lineman award, Bulldog award, special teams MVP, defensive MVP, offensive MVP, academic awards and permanent team captains.

Most improved defensive player — Johnnie Jones

Most improved offensive player — T.K. Bullard

Lineman award — Chris Kelly

Bulldog awards — Shane Dorsey, Reid Taylor

Special teams MVP — Gillis Jones

Defensive MVP — Nico Johnson

Offensive MVP — C.J. Richardson

Academic award — Gillis Jones

Permanent team captains — Chris Kelly, C.J. Richardson, Brent Shiver, Nico Johnson
