The Opp Bobcats (1-3) are getting off to a slow start this season after New Brockton won Monday night 46-36.
The Bobcats came off of a 72-60 loss from Georgiana last week before the Thanksgiving holidays before traveling to New Brockton.
“We got off to a slow start at 13-5 in the first quarter,” Bobcats head coach Ronnie Sansom said. “We cut it to two at halftime. The team was overmatched size wise and they had two good post players that gave us trouble all night.”
Sansom said guard play on the team is still developing.
“Our guard play is an advantage and also a weakness against folks with size,” he said. “We’ve just got to figure out what shots to make in the game.”
Sansom added that the team brought the game close in the fourth quarter.
“It came down to going into the fourth quarter where we took the lead at one point,” he said. “We just couldn’t hang on to the lead. Our guys played extremely hard.”
Sansom said at practice this week the team will be going over plays to control the tempo of the game.
Leading scorers for the Bobcats were Gavin Free with 11 points and Quadir Kincaid with eight points.
The Bobcats will play Florala in Florala on Thurs., Dec. 4. B-team starts at 4:30 p.m.
