Last Friday night, Red Level’s Kyle Nolen was injured in a collision under the basket that could cost him to miss several games this season.

Red Level coach Fred Kelley said Nolen was taken to the hospital for further examination following the injury.

“We took him over to the hospital that Friday night,” Kelley said. “He has a dislocated knee cap.

“They are taking a MRI (Monday). Then, we’re going to know something further there. He’s immobilized in a brace and we’re waiting to see what the MRI is going to show. Then, we’re going to go from there.”

Kelley said a doctor on the scene at the game put the knee back in place and called for the MRI to be performed.

Kelley said that with this type of injury, it is hard to tell when Nolen can return to the court.

“It could be several weeks,” he said. “It depends on if there could be any type of tissue tear or ligament damage.

“We’re just hoping and praying that maybe it’s minimal damage,” he said. “I tell you what, it’s a huge loss for us and I hope right now that we can get him rehabbed and get him back as quick as we can.”

Kelley indicated that Nolen is doing everything he needs to do in order to try and get back to 100 percent.

“He’s in good spirits as far as knowing what he has to do to try and get back,” Kelley said. “He’s a senior and he’s a hard worker. He’ll do everything he can to get back and that’s a big part of it right there.

“It’s an unfortunate thing to have happen,” he said. “Those things happen to all teams and players. Hopefully we can pull together and cover up until he can get back. We’re just going to be shorthanded and we’ll have to have someone step up.”
