Red Level moved to 8-4 after a loss to Greenville Monday night, 80-45.

“We weren’t quite as fortunate (Monday) night to pull out a win over Greenville,” Red Level coach Fred Kelley said. “They moved up 48-26 on us at the first half and then in the second half we cut it to 13 points. They did a good job on us and what we wanted to do.

“It was kind of a game where we’re fortunate to have to measure to see where you are before all the area games are played,” he said.

The leading scorer for Red Level was D.J. Sankey with 19 points.

Kelley said his team gave a good “effort” despite the loss.

“Our guys gave a good effort and that’s what we’re after,” he said. “We play our county rival, Florala, here Friday night and we have to be ready for what they might bring.”

When asked what has been worked on at practice, Kelley said special plays are in the works.

“We really have been working on the special things like spreading the floor, holding the ball and special plays that might help in a close, tight ball game,” Kelley said. “Everybody sees that we have an opportunity with five ball games at home until January.”

In girls action earlier Monday night, the Lady Tigers lost 70-37. Starla Jones was the leading scorer with 16 points.

Red Level will host Florala Friday night. Play starts at 4:30 p.m. with the B-team boys.
