SHS-RLS spring game tonight

As a reward for their hard work at spring training, the Straughn and Red Level football players will gear up to take part in a spring football game tonight at the Straughn High School stadium.
“This is a way to kind of give the kids a reward at the end of spring training,” Straughn coach Trent Taylor said.
The football game will start at 6 p.m. tonight instead of the typical 7 p.m. kickoff time.
Taylor said starting spring training a little earlier each year is a good way to find the players who will be committed to the program.
“Our kids enjoy going early,” Taylor said. “We ask them to do so much during practice in August.
“This team is trying to figure out what their personality is,” he said. “We’ll be different and sometimes different is good and sometimes it’s bad. We’re hoping that it’s good.”
Each team will start on the 30-yard line at the time of possession and will play four 12-minute quarters, like in a regular high school football game.
The teams can elect to either go for two points or for an extra point.
Taylor said the game will be a fun time for people looking for something a little different during the spring.
“It’s been several months since football,” Taylor said. “If people want a little change in pace, it’ll be something fun to see.”
Admission is $3 per person.
