The Red Level Lady Tigers rallied this weekend at the Florala Invitational to win the tournament in a tiebreaker against Florala, 11-3.

The Lady Tigers won their first and second games against Hillcrest-Evergreen and Florala, 5-4 and 10-3.

Red Level lost its third game against Florala, 9-7, before defeating the Lady Wildcats late Saturday, 11-3.

“Overall, we played great,” Red Level coach Heather Walden said. “We made a few mistakes during the first game against Hillcrest, but we were able to hang on for the win.”

Walden said the second game against Florala was a different story.

“Our bats finally came around and our defense was pretty solid throughout the game,” she said. “A win during the third game against Florala would have ended the tournament declaring us champions. However, we made too many errors and were again not hitting the ball as we should have.”

Walden added every member of her team stepped up during the tournament.

“We have played two tournaments this year and so far have brought home two trophies, so I think we’re doing well,” she said.

Red Level will host Florala today starting at 3:30 p.m. with the junior varsity team.
