AHS tennis team claims victories

On March 6, the Andalusia boys tennis team traveled to Montgomery and defeated Loveless Academy Magnet Program (LAMP).

Last Friday, the Bulldogs hosted the Andalusia Tennis Invitational in round robin play and were defeated by UMS-Wright before beating Jackson High School and W.S. Neal, 9-0 apiece.

Tuesday, the Bulldogs defeated the Enterprise Wildcats 5-4 in Andalusia to improve their record to 10-1.

Andalusia 5, LAMP 4

In single match play, Andalusia’s Jake Ricardy lost to LAMP’s Trey Poppell, 3-8; Andalusia’s Stephen Darby lost to LAMP’s Mark Woernle, 3-8; Andalusia’s Jay McCord defeated LAMP’s Josh Kim, 8-4; Andalusia’s Mitchell Clark defeated LAMP’s Tony Trexley, 8-6; Andalusia’s Mayur Patel lost to LAMP’s Sean Norris; and Andalusia’s Chris Smith defeated Alan Cheng, 8-1.

In double match play, Andalusia won, 2-1.

Andalusia players Jake Ricardy and Mitchell Clark defeated LAMP players Trey Poppell and Sean Norris, 8-2; Andalusia players Jay McCord and Stephen Darby lost to LAMP players Mark Woernle and Alan Chang, 6-8; and Andalusia players Chris Smith and Mayur Patel defeated LAMP players Josh Kim and Tony Trexley, 8-6.

Andalusia 5, Enterprise 4

In single match play, Andalusia’s Jake Ricardy lost to Enterprise’s Carson Callahan in two sets, 3-6, 3-6; Andalusia’s Stephen Darby lost to Enterprise’s Alex Harris in two sets, 1-6, 1-6; Andalusia’s Jay McCord defeated Enterprise’s Saxon McClamma in two sets, 6-3, 6-4; Andalusia’s Mitchell Clark defeated Enterprise’s David McKeon in two sets, 6-1, 6-2; Andalusia’s Mayur Patel defeated Enterprise’s Cody Ely-Walsh in two sets, 6-1, 6-2; and Andalusia’s Chris Smith lost to Enterprise’s Benjamin Marler in a two-set tie breaker, 6-4, 4-6 (9-11); Andalusia’s C.J. Beam defeated Enterprise’s Brennan Harris, 8-1; Andalusia’s Alex Evans defeated Enterprise’s Brandon Peekin, 8-0.

In double match play, Andalusia players Jake Ricardy and Mitchell Clark lost to Enterprise players Carson Callahan and Alex Harris, 2-8; Andalusia players Jay McCord and Stephen Darby defeated Enterprise players David McKeon and Saxon McClamma, 8-6; and Andalusia players Chris Smith and Mayur Patel defeated Enterprise players Cody Ely-Walsh and Brennen Heim, 8-4.

Andalusia will host Ozark next Thurs., March 26, at the Lurleen B. Wallace Community College tennis courts at 4 p.m.
