Red Level splits area wins Friday with Excel

Last Friday night, Red Level and Excel split area wins in a doubleheader in Red Level.
The Tigers won the first game, 9-5, and lost the second, 9-3.
Red Level 9, Excel 5
Red Level trailed 4-1 in the third inning before scoring four runs in the fifth to go up 5-4 over Excel.
The Tigers (7-5, 2-3 in Class 2A, Area 1) scored an additional four runs compared to Excel’s one run in the sixth inning to win the game.
The leading hitters for Red Level were Matthew Bond, Cale Nolen, Jonathan Neal, Michael Norman, Nathan Johns, Kyle Nolen and Troy Nolen.
Bond was 2-for-2 with two walks and one RBI; Cale Nolen was 2-for-3 with two walks; Neal was 2-for-4 with two RBIs; Norman was 2-for-4 with two RBIs; Johns was 2-for-4; Kyle Nolen was 1-for-3 with one RBI; and Troy Nolen was 1-for-2 with two walks.
Cale Nolen was the winning pitcher for the Tigers, pitching 7.0 innings and allowing three earned runs, six hits, four walks and striking out 11.
Excel 9, Red Level 3
The Tigers only scored three runs in the third inning to lose the second game against Excel Friday night.
The leading hitters for Red Level were Cale Nolen, Kyle Nolen, Matthew Bond and Jonathan Neal.
Cale Nolen was 1-for-2 with one walk; Kyle Nolen was 1-for-3; Matthew Bond was 1-for-3 with three RBIs; and Neal was 1-for-3.
Troy Nolen took the loss for the Tigers, pitching 2.0 innings and allowing three earned runs, four hits, one walk and striking out one.
Jonathan Neal came in for Nolen and pitched 5.0 innings, allowing four earned runs, six hits, two walks and striking out nine.
Red Level will travel to Flomaton on Friday in another area game. The game will take place after the junior varsity start at 4 p.m.
