The Florala Lady Wildcats fell to an area record of 0-5 after Kinston defeated them in five innings, 10-0 Monday night.
“We just weren’t able to hit the ball,” Florala coach Pat Maddox said. “Kinston’s pitcher was very good (Monday night) and we weren’t able to hit the ball.”
Maddox said the team has not played to their “potential” so far with the area tournament right around the corner.
“It’s been somewhat disappointing,” he said. “We have not lived up to our potential. I think we’re much better than we’re playing, but right now we’re seeming to find a way to lose.
“It’s more mental,” he said. “We’re just trying to build confidence in our girls and make them understand that it’s practice, practice and practice and it ultimately comes down to getting on the field and doing it. We have the area tournament coming up and hopefully we’ll decide to play at the right time and everything will come together.”
Florala will host Hillcrest-Evergreen on Mon., April 27 at 4 p.m.
