AHS defeats Luverne, 2-1

On senior day, the Andalusia Lady Bulldogs defeated visiting Luverne Monday night, 2-1.
Andalusia’s Paige Caraway helped lead her team to victory Monday night, pitching 7.0 innings and allowing three hits, one run, three walks and striking out 12.
In the first inning, Caraway scored on an RBI single from Jessica Centner to take an early lead.
Andalusia (15-13, 4-1 in Class 4A, Area 3) would not score again until the sixth inning when Jessica Park came home on an RBI double from Caraway.
Caraway was 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run and one stolen base; Centner was 1-for-3 with one single and one RBI; and Park was 1-for-3 with one single and one run.
“I thought we played real well Monday night,” Andalusia coach Anthony Mikel said. “Paige pitched a good game for us. I’m real happy with the way we’re playing right now.
“Hopefully, we’ll continue to play like this.”
Andalusia will be hosting the Class 4A, Area 3 softball tournament this Saturday at the Andalusia Sports Complex beginning at 9 a.m.
The area touranment is set up in a double elimination format with a loser’s bracket.
Thomasville will play Hillcrest-Evergreen on field No. 3, while Andalusia kicks off with Clarke County on field No. 2
The losers of the first two games will play each other at the start of the loser’s bracket at 11 a.m. on field No. 3.
The area championship game between the winner of the winner’s and loser’s bracket will take place at 3:30 p.m. on field No. 2.
A 5:30 p.m. game will be played if the loser’s bracket winner defeats the winner’s bracket winner in the championship.
