Opp’s Soyia Folmar scored 20 points in her team’s opening game at the third annual Straughn Lady Tigers Thanksgiving Tournament on Monday night, to help lead the Lady Bobcats to a 51-30 victory over Pleasant Home.

Folmar only scored two points in the first half, but the Lady Bobcats still led by six points at the break, 17-11.

“We played real hard,” Opp coach Allison Gregory said. “But I wasn’t pleased with our play in the first half. The defense was our offense and we had a lot of intensity on the court.”

In the third quarter, the Lady Bobcats put up 20 points, compared to Pleasant Home’s eight. In that quarter alone, Folmar contributed 10 points and added eight to her total in the fourth.

Opp’s Katelyn Mikel also had a strong game, scoring 12 points.

Pleasant Home coach Kelley Garner said there is still much work that needs to be done.

“We’ve got a long way to go,” Garner said. “Despite the fact that we lost and the 23 turnovers we made in the first half — I still thought we could cut it and take back the lead early in the second half.”

Pleasant Home’s Brentin Fuller led her team with eight points; Macy Schwartz had seven points; and Raven Woods had six.
