Despite falling to Daleville 59-50 in Opp’s season opener, boys basketball coach Ronnie Sansom said his team “executed” on offense and defense.
“(Daleville was) shooting the ball pretty well and that was the difference in the game,” Sansom said. “We got the shots we’re looking for, but we just couldn’t get them to fall,” he said.
Opp trailed 11-9 after the first quarter, 30-20 at halftime, and 46-36 at the end of the third.
Sansom said the team had 13 turnovers in the game Tuesday.
“We’ve got to improve and build on this loss,” he said. “There were several occasions where we cut them down from a double-digit to a single-digit lead. Their effort was never an issue and they played extremely hard.”
Opp’s Gavin Free led with 23 points and Tyler Harrison had 16.
Opp will be at Elba next Tuesday night.
