Andalusia utilized its full-court press early Friday night to rout Opp, 67-38.
Despite the 29-point loss, the Bobcats kept a leash on the Bulldogs early, but Andalusia strutted to a 36-21 lead at halftime.
“(Opp) made it hard,” Andalusia coach Richard Robertson said. “They fought hard. Coach (Ronnie) Sansom has done a good job with his team. Everybody has been around long enough to know that I am a pressure coach.
“But we had a plan for them,” he said.
In the second half, the Bulldogs (6-1) outscored the Bobcats 17-6 in the third quarter and 14-11 in the fourth.
“We were fortunate to get the win,” Robertson said. “The thing that bothered me was that we can’t get all of our game in synch.”
Andalusia did not do well at the free throw line, finishing 5-of-19.
A bright spot for the Bulldogs was Jacard Townsend. He ended the night with a double-double, scoring 20 points and wracking up 15 rebounds.
“He’s working hard inside,” Robertson said about Townsend. “If we can get him some help, he’ll know how many shots he’s going to block.
“All of them are doing a good job and what they’re supposed to do,” he said. “We played them practically the whole game.”
O’Brien Curry also had a good night with 18 points.
Opp’s Gavin Free led his team with 17 points.
Tonight, Andalusia will travel to Brewton to play T.R. Miller.
