St. James defeats Opp, 47-33

St. James utilized its full-court press play early in the game Tuesday night to claim a 47-33 area win over the Opp Bobcats.
The game stayed close throughout the game, with the visiting Trojans taking an 11-3 lead after the first quarter and 20-13 lead at halftime.
St. James added 15 points compared to Opp’s 11 in the third quarter. In the fourth, St. James outscored Opp 12-9.
St. James’ Brandyn Baker led his team in scoring with 24 points. Opp’s Gavin Free had 12 points.
Opp moves to a 1-4, 0-1 record in Class 4A, Area 2.
The Bobcats’ next game will be on Thursday at 5 p.m. against Luverne at the 43rd annual Andalusia Invitational Basketball Tournament.

St. James took an early 15-9 lead after the first quarter and never relinquished the lead.
The Lady Trojans added eight points in the second quarter to lead 23-13 at halftime, before adding 21 points in the third quarter compared to Opp’s eight.
Opp’s Soyia Folmar led her team in scoring with 11 points and Nesha Stoudemire had seven.
St. James’ Hope Olzewski led with 11 points.
The Lady Bobcats’ next game will be Friday at Pleasant Home.
