Red Level’s varsity basketball teams each opened area play with a win at home Tuesday night. The boys won, 60-53, and the girls took a 46-29 victory.

The Tigers trailed by one point at halftime before outscoring Excel 19-11 in the third quarter on the way to the seven-point win.

Trey Salter led Red Level (8-9, 1-0 in Class 2A, Area 1) with 23 points. Nick Dorsey added 12 points for the Tigers, and James Feagin finished with 11.

Akeem Williams had 20 points for Excel.

Senior Lania Paulk led the Lady Tigers with 20 points and also pulled down seven rebounds. Koneshia Calloway added 12 points and a team-high nine rebounds for Red Level (2-11, 1-0).

Red Level will host Mobile Christian at home Friday in an area matchup.
