Straughn to face Calhoun

The Straughn Tigers will face area opponent Calhoun tonight at home.

Straughn boys coach Todd Reynolds said the key for tonight’s game will be to defend on the perimeter.

“Calhoun likes to play up-tempo and shoot a lot of 3-pointers,” Reynolds said. “They track down long rebounds and they have a lot of quickness and athleticism.”

Reynolds said he is aware of the “tradition” Calhoun has in regards to basketball.

“They’re a basketball school and they’re going to be fired up,” he said. “It will be another real challenge for us. We’ll try to continue to have some press and we’re continuing to work on the boards and our shot selection.

“We hope to have a decent crowd,” he said. “We’ve been playing hard time and time again.”

Tip-off tonight for the Tigers (5-10, 0-3 in Class 3A, Area 3) is at 4:30 for the B-team.
