Bulldogs clinch area

Andalusia clinched its area Tuesday night with a 72-50 road win over Hillcrest-Evergreen.

The Bulldogs led 14-9 after the first quarter before outscoring the Jaguars 24-11 in the second to lead 38-20 at the half.

Andalusia kept its lead at 22-13 at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth, Hillcrest managed to outscore the Bulldogs 17-12.

“We had them a whole lot worse but we made mistakes,” Andalusia coach Richard Robertson said. “We got sloppy and ragged at times.”

O’Brien Curry led Andalusia with 18 points, Jacard Townsend had 12, and Quayshaun Denson and Justin Dooley had nine points apiece.

The Bulldogs (18-2, 5-0 in Class 4A, Area 3) will travel to play Thomasville on Friday night.

In varsity girls action, the Lady Bulldogs also clinched their area with a 65-31 win over the Lady Jaguars.
