The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles defeated Kinston on the road Friday night, 36-29.

“It was a very physical contest and a hard-fought game,” Pleasant Home coach Kelley Garner said. “We played hard and played tough (Friday night). The girls did a good job in the second half of staying in the game.”

In the first half, Garner said her team was deep in foul trouble.

“They stayed out of foul trouble and it was a total team effort,” she said. “The girls showed a lot of character and composure.”

Pleasant Home’s Gina Davis led with 16 points, Kayla Woods had seven and Brentin Fuller had five.

The Lady Eagles improve to 11-8 overall, and 5-1 in Class 1A, Area 3.

“We were very fortunate to come away with a victory,” Garner said. “Our defense stepped up and made the difference in the last four to five minutes.”

In varsity boys action, Pleasant Home lost, 44-41.

Cory Sims led Pleasant Home with 15 points and Kody Taylor had nine.

Pleasant Home’s next game will be at Straughn next Thursday night.
