The Andalusia Bulldogs defeated Northview High School (Dothan) on the road Thursday night, 68-51.

The Bulldogs (20-4) led 10-7 after the first quarter and 31-21 at halftime.

Andalusia set its sights upon Northview’s Levert Briston, who led his team with 25 points and 13 rebounds.

“We won the ball game basically in the fourth quarter,” Andalusia coach Richard Robertson said. “The (Briston) guy, we made a special consideration — we allowed him to get 25 points.”

In the third quarter, Northview outscored Andalusia 15-12. For the final quarter in the contest, the Bulldogs pulled away on a 25-15 run to win the game.

O’Brien Curry led Andalusia with 25 points and Derrick King added 11. Quayshaun Denson and Justin Dooley chipped in 10 points apiece.

Robertson said despite the win Thursday night, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to get ready for the area tournament next week.

“We’re supposed to get better as the game progresses,” Robertson said about his team’s momentum in games. “We have a very good Carroll-Ozark team on Monday night. We don’t have gimmies — every game is a battle. We’ve got to meet the challenge. We don’t have room for let downs and bad games.”
