Both Red Level’s varsity and junior varsity softball teams suffered losses Tuesday night on the road in Luverne.
The varsity team lost 11-2 and the junior varsity lost, 9-2.
“During the varsity game, I thought we were going to play great,” Red Level coach Heather Walden said. “Jessica Kilpatrick started us off with a triple and Morgan Carpenter followed with a double to send Kilpatrick home giving us a 1-0 lead. Things went crazy from then on when we made error after error, allowing Luverne to jump ahead.
“I realize that this is the start of the season, but I expect much more from this varsity team,” she said.
In the junior varsity game, errors again plagued the Lady Tigers, Walden said.
Morgan Barlow, Maklyn Batchler and Dionah Smith all had hits for Red Level, while scoring their team’s only runs.
Red Level will host Pleasant Home in junior varsity and varsity action next Monday, starting at 4 p.m.
